In my forty-seventh article or 'Wil-O-Gram' to the MW Newsletter as Leefield President, there are a number of important items to bring to your attention:
Ø Rain, Rain Go Away! – Have you ever seen so much rain?!? At the time of writing this article (mid July), we must
have “enjoyed” some 874 ml of rain!! (Reminds me of when my mom used to say, “Wil! If I told you once,
I told you a thousand times, stop exaggerating!”). On a positive note, my lawn has NEVER looked so good!
And of course excessive rains lead to excessive mosquitoes! And I can’t remember experiencing so many
mosquitoes in many, many years. . . And thanks to the 486 cans of “Off”, “Deep Woods Off”, Musk Oil”,
and “Citronella Oil”, etc., that I have bathed myself in all summer, starting in October I will be entering
into a detoxification facility to rid my body of all the “Deet”. But for what it’s worth, my wife Denise and I are
currently in Salmon Arm, BC, with some of our best friends for the 1st annual Sturgis North Bike Rally, and
we have seen ONE mosquito in five days!!! How does BC do it?!?
Ø New Leefield Executive Board Member – Please join me in welcoming a brand new Leefield Executive
Board member in Jay Huber! Jay has recently become our new Membership Director and we welcome him with
open arms. He has a great sense of humor, runs a growing successful business, rides an awesome Harley
and will bring fresh ideas and some new perspectives to our Board.
Ø Silent Auction/Fundraiser – Leefield will be holding a Silent Auction/Fundraiser in support of the Lee
Ridge Playground Revitalization Project on November 26, 2011. We will be having a dinner & dance and
we are looking for loads of donations for door prizes and silent auction items. Please call Leefield with your name
and number if you can help, OR you can drop the items off at Leefield. Tickets will be going on sale in October,
2011, and it will be a blast! More details to follow. . .
Ø Membership Barbecue – Our new Membership Director Jay has asked me to remind you all to come out
to the annual Leefield Membership Barbecue on September 11, 2011, from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. It will prove
to be a lot of fun and there will be some awesome DOOR PRIZES!
Ø Special General Meeting – As announced in the Edmonton Sun in June, Leefield held a mandatory Special
General Meeting on July 6, 2011, and passed a motion to spend up to $30,000.00 towards the Lee Ridge
Playground Revitalization Project, from the proceeds of our upcoming Casino in September, 2011. WE STILL
NEED VOLUNTEERS for this event. If you can donate some of your valuable time for a great cause with a
bunch of great people, please contact our Casino Director Fern through Leefield at 780-463-2456.
