OUR MISSION
The Leefield Community League celebrates a vibrant community:
→ by creating recreational and social activities
→ providing and maintaining a high standard of our facilities
→ advocating on behalf of the community
through volunteer engagement and fundraising for all of our residents.
The Leefield Community League is managed and operated by volunteers who live in the communities of Richfield and Lee Ridge, forming the combined community League of Leefield. Our Executive Board and volunteers donate their time, effort, skills and wisdom to make Leefield a better place to live, work, and play.
Working together, the Executive Board of the Leefield Community League coordinates our community response on issues and gives each resident of Leefield a stronger voice when presenting ideas to City Council with regards to facility and park development, traffic management, urban planning, and strategies to decrease crime.
Volunteers in Leefield plan neighbourhood activities, special events, and fun family gatherings; manage the community hall and organize rentals; maintain the outdoor rinks and offer various sports and leisure programs; maintain the natural area and garden beds; and keep residents informed through regular board meetings, newsletters, emails, our social media platforms and this website.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
2020 Was a Unique and Challenging Year! 2021 Here we Come!
Wow! What a year 2020 turned out to be for most of us, and for the Leefield Community League it was no exception! The Coronavirus has impacted us all in so many ways. Many people are not aware that as a community league we not only run programs and events for the people in our community, but we also need to run our community league like a business as well. We receive very little funding from the City of Edmonton and as such, are required to generate our own revenue to pay for our expenses such as staff, utilities, minor repairs, the operation of our Outdoor Rink, etc. This is typically done by occasionally renting out our facilities for weddings, parties, meetings and other events. And when the Government and AHS either shuts down the community league for most of the year or imposes extremely limiting restrictions on how we can operate our community league, it has a very negative impact on our community league. We have done our best to take advantage of some of the grants that have been made available to us, but things are still extremely tight for us financially. We will continue to do our best to keep our renters, our staff and our volunteers as safe as possible and this will always be our primary responsibility and goal.
During our downtime, we have done our best to take care of some deep cleaning and sanitizing our facilities and have also embarked on a huge project, re-building our large NHL sized Outdoor Rink, with long lasting plastic puck board. These projects are nearing completion and will be ready when the restrictions imposed upon us have been lifted.
We are optimistic that as the vaccine for the Coronavirus is made available to Albertans over the next coming months, the government-imposed restrictions will ease and will ultimately lead to the re-opening of community leagues, including the Leefield Community League for the many programs and events that we love to host. We also anticipate being able to once again open our facilities for rental opportunities, including weddings, meetings and other events. Please be advised that we normally book up our facilities up to two years in advance, so don’t hesitate to call our Facilities Manager, Jacky Layton at 780-463-2456 and book our hall for your upcoming event!
We look forward to our lives and our community league getting back to normal in the near future!
Wil Tonowski, President
